The Witcher 3 seemed to wrap things up pretty nicely for Geralt. Or, as nicely as possible for a Witcher game, at least. And, if you listen to Geralt’s voice actor Doug Cockle, it should stay that way. Mr. Cockle was promoting the new Victor Vran game when The Witcher 4 was inevitably brought up.
Mr. Cockle’s opinion comes as Geralt is set to appear in the newest Soul Calibur game. Speaking to Gamereactor, he said that The Witcher 4, if it’s made, should focus on Ciri. Furthermore, it seems like a natural progression of the game’s storyline. In his words:
“If you’re leading into The Witcher 4, I can only say I have no idea, although I think it will be. This is my own opinion and CD Projekt Red knows what they are doing, and I have no idea what the plan is, but…If I was CD Projekt Red, I would make The Witcher 4, but I would be focusing on Ciri. In The Witcher 3, she hints at visiting other worlds, and I think a game around her visiting those worlds would be a cool Witcher 4.”
Obviously, if the game is made, it will be a while off. CD Projekt Red is currently developing Cyberpunk 2077. Furthermore, developing a game like this in the Witcher franchise would take years, even if they’re working in it full time. That being said, though, there’s no ruling out whether or not the developers have been working on it, even minimally.
For those who want some new Witcher stuff, there’s always the series that’s coming to Netflix. According to reports, it’s set to have eight episodes. However, there currently isn’t much information available about the series, other than the fact that it will be some form of adaption of the original novel.
