“Eddie the Bird” from Angry Birds Evolution is making his way to Iron Maiden’s–yes, that Iron Maiden–mobile game, Legacy of the Beast.
Eddie the Bird originally appeared in Angry Birds Evolution as a Halloween tribute to Iron Maiden as a feathery version of Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie. In the game, Eddie the Bird made his way through four different guises based on the band’s history–Cyborg (Somewhere in Time), Pharaoh (Powerslave), Killers (Killers) and Shaman (The Book of Souls). During Eddie the Bird’s time with Angry Birds Evolution, players heard 33 million minutes of Iron Maiden music.
The Iron Maiden mascot will now appear in Legacy of the Beast as all four characters simultaneously, giving players the chance to team up with multiple birds and deploy them alongside their allies. Players will also be able to take part in events scheduled from the start of the birds’ arrival, on Feb. 6, to their departure on Feb. 20.
The Interactive Creative Director at Phantom Music Management, Llexi Leon, is proud of the work Rovio Entertainment did with the Iron Maiden mascot.
“Rovio outdid themselves with an incredible tribute to Maiden last Halloween and now it’s time for players of our own mobile game to enjoy these fantastic characters within the worlds of Legacy of the Beast,” Leon said.
Miika Tams, the Vice President of Games and Product Lead for Angry Birds Evolution is excited to continue this collaboration between Rovio Entertainment and Phantom Music Management.
“As huge metal fans, we’re delighted to see our tribute to Iron Maiden continue through into Legacy of the Beast,” Tams said. “Eddie the bird has been a massive hit in our game and we’re sure that players of Legacy will have just as much fun with him.”
For those not familiar with the mobile game, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is an RPG that has seen its characters featured on the side of Maiden’s own 747 airplane, on bottle tops of their 20-million-pint selling Trooper beer, on merchandise, on comic books and more. In fact, Legacy of the Beast is the inspiration for Iron Maiden’s next tour, which begins in Tallinn, Estonia on May 26.
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast and Eddie the Bird’s inclusion in it, is available now for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
