After stating that their other XCOM title would be revealed soon, 2K has seen today as a good day to announce The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Set in 1962, players are put into the shoes of special agent William Carter and, as part of The Bureau, will confront the mysterious, unknown enemy that is coming to threaten America.

XCOM Declassified aims to be a third person shooter version of the XCOM that we’re used to, but will still contain elements from the series, such as permadeath, squad customization and the ability to move your soldiers around.

“We’re thrilled about 2K Marin’s refined vision for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified,” said 2K president Christoph Hartmann. “The game has evolved through a creative and iterative development process, and the result is a narrative-driven experience that is smart, engaging, and challenges players to think tactically.”

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is set to release on August 20th (August 23rd in Europe) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Check out the live-action trailer below.
