Developer Black Jacket Games has announced an update for its arena combat game Metal Drift – three years after the game’s initial release on Steam.
The update has already gone live, and according to a press release is intended to address “many of the issues raised by players and critics” in “forum posts and direct e-mails over the last 3 years.”
Metal Drift shipped with a single arena, but this has now been doubled with the inclusion of the new Wasteland arena, along with an additional level variation named Javelin. The update also allows players of the demo to compete against players of the full game on the same servers, and there are over twenty more features and fixes included within the update.
The press release states, “After years on the Steam store, the Metal Drift player base continues to grow as they hone their skills and climb the leader boards. This update will offer the dedicated community new battlegrounds, and a streamlined interface.”
Weston Tracy, co-founder of Black Jacket Games, added, “Even though Metal Drift is well into a ‘long-tail’ of diminished sales, we love this game, and we want to make it even better.”
Black Jacket Games also stated its intention to release more updates for Metal Drift in the future even as it continues development on its second major title, Slime City.
