343 Industries Thanks Halo Players With Free Gear

If you’re still feeling a little sore about the technical issues still plaguing Halo: The Master Chief Collection has had since launch, 343 Industries is hoping that a remake of Halo 3: ODST will help rebuild a friendship with the company.

In a recent blog post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries boss Bonnie Ross continued to apologize for the problems that gamers have experienced with Halo: The Master Chief Collection since launch.

“Last month, I promised the Halo and Xbox community that addressing the matchmaking issues and other bugs impacting players’ experience with Halo: The Master Chief Collection was our #1 priority,” Ross said. “We’ve been working around the clock deploying weekly content updates and numerous server-side adjustments that have shown good results and we’re encouraged by the feedback we’re hearing from you.”

Next week, 343 Industries will release an update that will add 10 episodes of the cooperative experience “Spartan Ops” for Halo 4. In addition, as a way of saying thank you to fans, the company’s also giving away the following Spartan swag to gamers who have played Halo: The Master Chief Collection online at any time since launch, including a free month of Xbox Live Gold and an exclusive In-Game Avatar and Nameplate.

Most of all, 343 Industries is already hard at work on remaking the Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer map Relic and Halo 3: ODST as free downloadable additions, which will (hopefully) release sometime in the near future.

“This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can – and need – to do better for Xbox fans around the world,” Ross continued. “We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues.”

Despite its bugs, we thought that The Master Chief Collection was the embodiment of everything the franchise strove to achieve over the past decade and “a game that everyone Xbox One owner and every Halo fan needs to own.”

Tell us: Have you experienced any problems with The Master Chief Collection? If so, are you happy with any of these bonuses?
