3D Realms Reveals New Action RPG Bombshell

Bombshell will have to battle all sorts of alien creatures in her quest

Duke Nukem 3D developers 3D realms have revealed that they are collaborating with their new parent company, Interceptor Entertainment, on  a top down action RPG called Bombshell. Set in a futuristic sci-fi world, the game is named after its female lead, Shelly ”Bombshell” Harrison. A bomb disposal expert who lost her right arm in the line of duty, Bombshell is now a cyborg mercenary who is seeking to rebuild her reputation. After the White House is attacked by a mechanical monstrosity, Shelly is tasked with rescuing the President and destroying the kidnappers.

The game will take place across four different planets and offers non-linear level design and plenty of side quests to keep players occupied. As well as the standard RPG elements such as experience points and upgrades, Bombshell can also be enhanced through modifications. There will be 10 different  modifications for her mechanical arm which will unlock new abilities and finishing moves. From the trailer above it looks like the game is still a little rough around the edges but 3D realms have plenty of time left to add that final layer of polish. The developers are using Epic’s Unreal Engine so this should be a smooth and easy process.

Expect to see much more of this collaborative project at next month’s E3 conference. Bombshell will launch on the PC and PS4 sometime in Q1 2015. You can find more details on the game’s official website.
