We reported last week on a rumored $99 Xbox 360. That rumor has been confirmed via Major Nelson’s blog. A $99 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect is available with the commitment to Xbox Live Gold at $15 a month.

This package deal is only available at a Microsoft Store. Good luck finding one in your area as there are only 21 in the United States.

You may be asking yourself if this new bundle is really a deal, let’s do the math. $99 + $15/month for two years equals $459. The 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect lists for $299. A year subscription to Xbox Live is $60 for a total of $420. Basically the new “deal” will cost consumers an extra $40 over those two years.
