A Goosebumps game based as a prequel to Sony’s movie of the same name, is now out in the UK on the 3DS. Goosebumps The Game was previously released in North America for the 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4. and PC in October.
The game is a point-and-click style adaptation of the series, in which you have to find out what happened in the town which has had R.L. Stine’s monsters come to life, thanks to Slappy the Dummy. It’s not a direct translation of the film either as it has a new story, in which, according to Avanquest Software – the UK publisher of the game -, “the player’s choices lead them through a horror experience.” Developed by WayForward, the same studio behind DuckTales Remastered, this game has you look around the town, figure out puzzles, and find clues to stop the monsters from wrecking havoc. In the game, the player has to through the neighborhood, the Dead House and a shopping mall at night.
In addition, there are 60 rooms with 125 items to collect in the game, and like any other point-and-click, you have to use what you find in the environment to figure out puzzles and get to other areas. There are also over 22 monsters in the game that are from the classic and movie versions of Goosebumps.
The Goosebumps books have sold over 400 million copies worldwide and despite the movie coming out in North America in October, the film just released in theaters in the UK on February 5th!
