Unfortunately for Nintendo (and publishers who are currently/planning to support the system), Wii U sales haven’t been all that great. Many blame the lack of titles currently available for the system whilst others think that it was launched too early and without key features such as Nintendo TVii and a Virtual Console store.

To add further flames to the fire, Activision has stated that the company is “somewhat disappointed” in the launch of the Wii U system. During the company’s latest earnings call, Bobby Kotick (CEO, President and a director of Activision Blizzard) had the following to say:

“We were somewhat disappointed with the launch of the Wii U. We’re concerned about the install base for 6-11 year-olds”

What is interesting to note more than the “somewhat disappointed” part is that Activision is concerned about the install base for 6-11 year olds. Children. This was the exact market that, whilst wanting to still appeal to it, Nintendo wanted to be seen to be moving away from as it secured third-party developers when the Wii U launched with enhanced ports of Batman, Darksiders and Assassins Creed.

As only time will tell for the future of the Wii U, we want to know your thoughts on where the company is heading. Did they launch their console prematurely, or do you think they will pull it out of the bag once Smash Brothers and other first-party titles are launched?
