We all knew from the moment that Skylanders was announced that it was going to be a huge success for Activision. Although they seemed to focus on Spyro to capture the imagination of fans at the beginning the series has now grown to accommodate a huge cast of characters of all shapes, sizes and species and is a household name across the world.

It should come as no surprise then as Activision have announced that they have sold over 100 million Skylanders toys across the United States alone, leading to the franchise generating over $500 million in revenue since it originally launched in 2011.

As we predicted, Activision announced a new set of Skylander toys earlier this week which will surly only add to the pile of money Activision is generating from this game. Can you see this series ever stopping or will it become a cult-smash such as Pokemon and the Mario series?
