Nintendo fans have had to make do with a lot of cutting recently from third-party developers and the company has gone out of its way since the release of the Wii U to try and assure fans that they will not be getting second-rate versions of popular third-party games in the face of both the PS4 and Xbox One at the start of the next-generation of home video game consoles.

That assurance can now be truly binned.

The official FAQ for the new clan system of COD: Ghosts reads:

“Clans in Call of Duty: Ghosts will include deeper in-game integration and more features, from in-game Clan Management and Clan–specific playlists to the all-new Call of Duty Clan Wars game mode available in the new Call of Duty app. This year also introduces cross-platform Clans, allowing players to create and/or join a single Call of Duty: Ghosts Clan across the following platforms: including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.”

And just to add further concerns, Twitter user @BagirovEmmanuel asked Activion’s Dan Amrich (@OneOfSwords) directly about the exclusion of Wii U from that very list:

“@OneOfSwords Why is the Wii U excluded from the clans feature in your FAQ?”

“@BagirovEmmanuel I am basing it on this document, which does not list Wii U as supported by the Clans system: ow.ly/qgysT”

Is this yet another shot towards Nintendo needing to rely on first-party software for its console to get any hardcore notice?
