Not the best timing for Activision, is it? For those who may be unaware, June 1 is RIGHT BEFORE E3. When gearing up to showcase some big name titles at a major gaming event, it’s a given that legal woes prior don’t quite make for good PR (just ask Konami). Activision’s legal battle was supposed to take place on the 29th of this month but will take place next month instead, as it was pushed back by Judge Elihu Berle. It’s supposed to last 20 days but the judge mentioned it probably won’t as the case is ‘not that complicated.’

The entire issue began back in May 2010 when former bosses of Infinity Ward, Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired by Activision just before the release of Modern Warfare 2. They then sued Activision for ‘unfair dismissal’. Activision in turn, countersued and stated Zampella and West were in cahoots with EA, making the legal battle messier by involving their arch nemesis. EA were then pulled into an interference suit for $400 million, for allegedly trying to work with Zampella and West. EA have since settled their court-related differences with Activision but the case between Activision and the former Infinity Ward bosses still remains. Phew. If that left your head spinning, don’t worry, it probably did so to just about everyone.
