Last year, the creators of Saint’s Row, Volition, released a new game called Agents of Mayhem. The game released to mixed reviews, but was ultimately seen as a decent open-world adventure game by many. Set in the same world as Saint’s Row, the game was inspired by Saturday morning cartoons such as G.I. Joe, where players assumed the role of a group of anti-heroes known as agents of MAYHEM, facing off against the deadly LEGION. Now, there is a board game on the way that has appeared on Kickstarter this past week, and it’s already cleared its target goal of $30,000 USD.

Agents of Mayhem: Pride of Babylon is being developed by Academy Games, a well-known developer of tactical tabletop games like Conflict of Heroes. The game uses modular tiles and miniatures to play out its battles, and has some interesting ideas in how the tiles are used. One particular highlight is being able to build up buildings using pegs, as there are floor tiles for buildings that can be used. The game uses tactical strategies like elevation that players can use, but environments are also destructible, and the building that your enemies are shooting from can easily be destroyed and collapsed. The game is for 2 to 4 players, and uses interesting boards for the characters that are used to track abilities and upgrades, with the character boards having slots to slide in cards that can be swapped or upgraded between games.

The game launched with a target of $30,000 USD, and it has been cleared in a matter of days. At the time of writing this article, it stands at $65,000 USD and counting with 25 days still to go. The game will come with the core box, as well as the Get Gaunt expansion, which introduces the LEGION villain Gaunt. There are stretch goals continually being added, generally with more LEGION troopers being added, and more will continue to be added. One of the more interesting add-ons however is Johnny Gat, star of the Saint’s Row games, who is included as an add-on with his own unit board and upgrade cards.

The estimated delivery is September 2018, so it’s clear that the game is for the most part done, and now Academy, Volition and Deep Silver are just trying to nail down how many copies to produce. The game looks pretty sharp, and looks to promise on some great strategy action. Are you interested in it, will you back it on Kickstarter? Let us know in the comments below.
