Monster Hunter is no stranger to collaboration events. The last game alone had collaborations with Resident Evil 2, Street Fighter V, and Mega Man, to name a few. Capcom loves doing these things, and the current title, Rise even had a collaboration with in-series spinoff Minster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Such a new collaboration is what we’re here to discuss today.

Yesterday, Capcom’s popular action series has made another crossover with the iconic fighting game series Street Fighter. However, the likes of Ryu, Chun-Li, or Sakura aren’t making the jump. No, the primary subject is the master of the Satsui No Hado, Akuma. The collaboration also comes with a brand-new trailer showcasing his gameplay, and you can watch that below.

Akuma’s Attributes and Event Quest

Akuma arrives in Monster Hunter Rise as a layered armor obtainable from an Event Quest. You can obtain any event quest from Senri the Mailman in Kamura Village after booting the game. Equipping his Layered Armor acts as an alternate costume for Hunters, meaning that it does not affect stats for your builds. However, Sword and Shield players get an additional treat with this costume.

By equipping a Sword and Shield to you while wearing this costume, all of your attacks are replaced with punches and kicks, and that’s not all. Basic kunai throws are replaced with Gohadokens, and your Silkbind attacks become other special attacks from Akuma, unique to this costume. Whether these attacks are altered by your weapon’s element or if they’re their own thing yet is not currently known.

Akuma’s Event Quest, SF: Ultimate Promotion Exam, is available on August 27th for all Monster Hunter Rise players. You need an internet connection to obtain the quest data.,

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Nintendo Switch and will arrive on PC in 2022.

What did you think about Akuma making an appearance in Monster Hunter Rise? Do you want to complete the event quest and add Akuma to your collection? Are you excited about the cosmetic changes for Sword and Shield weapons? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
