Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000

UK developer Rebellion has announced that its critically acclaimed first-person shooter title Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 can be downloaded for free within the next 48 hours.

Running until October 17th, the download for Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 is only available through GOG.com, with users needing to sign up to the website with their email and then they will receive a code to download the title for free.

“AvP is lodged deep in our DNA,” said Jason Kingsley, co-founder and CEO of Rebellion. “The series still has a huge following and we’re excited there are a lot of people out there who might get their very first taste of AvP today for free.”

GOG Galaxy, a DRM-free online store and multiplayer client, is now being pushed into the early stages of its beta testing, and Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000‘s free download is set to mark this occasion. Furthermore, the agreement reached between Rebellion and GOG.com allows Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000 to have an integrated multiplayer cross-play feature with Steam users in the near future.

“Cross-play is a feature we’re delighted to see in AvP,” Kingsley added. “Having two of the largest communities in PC gaming actively supporting cross-play is good for devs and good for Rebellion because it’s the best thing for gamers. They want to play together, whatever the platform.”

Originally launched in 1999 as Aliens versus Predator on PC and Mac, Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 was released in 2010 and offered extra content and additional support to PC users, including the ability to use the Xbox 360 controller.
