Animal Crossing: New Leaf ran into quite a few problems when it first launched in Japan earlier this year when stores were struck by sell-outs due to the sheer demand from gamers for the next addition of Nintendo’s life-sim.

The game has since then become more rapidly available and has since struct two million sells, the first 3DS game to do so in Japan even when being compared to Monster Hunter, Mario Kart 7 and others.

The next closest game to Animal Crossing as according to Famitsu is Mario Kart 7 with around 1,900k units sold.

Is this a surprise to you?
