Anime And Manga News This Week (01/11-01/17)

It’s a new week and a new set of anime and manga news to cover, so I’ll be listing the best updates and announcements we received throughout the week.

Edens Zero PV and Premiere Date

Earlier this week, a new PV and release date was revealed for the upcoming anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s Edens Zero manga. The anime is scheduled to release on April 10. The Edens Zero anime was first announced in September 2020 during Tokyo Game Show 2020 alongside two video game adaptations.

High Rise Invasion Trailer and Release Date

This week, Netflix Anime released a new trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of the High Rise Invasion manga. The anime will release on February 25.

The unhinged and gory death-game manga High-Rise Invasion, created by Tsuina Miura (Ajin: Demi-Human) and Takahiro Oba (Box!), finally gets an anime adaptation! High school student Yuri Honjo finds herself lost in an “abnormal space” where countless skyscrapers are connected by suspension bridges and “masked figures” mercilessly slaughter their confused and fleeing victims. To survive in this hellish world, she has two choices: kill the masked figures or be killed. Yuri is determined to survive in order to destroy this irrational world, but what will be her ultimate fate?

Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time Delayed

Earlier this week, the official website and Twitter account for the upcoming anime film Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time announced that the film will receive yet another delay. The film was originally scheduled to release in Japan on January 23 but has been postponed due to the impact of COVID-19.

Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Kishibe Netflix Release Date

This week, Netflix released a new trailer and February 18 release date for Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Kishibe (Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokana), a JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure spinoff manga by Hirohiko Araki.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S Release Date

The official website for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Twitter account announced that the upcoming second season of the anime series, titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, will begin airing on July 2021.

The first season of the anime aired on Crunchyroll, which describes the series as:

Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!

Kanojo mo Kanojo Premiere Date

Earlier this week, the official website for the TV anime adaptation of Hiroyuki’s manga Kanojo mo Kanojo revealed a new visual and main staff listing. The anime will premiere in 2021.

The “neo romantic comedy” manga centers on Naoya, a first-year high school student. After he confesses to Saki — the girl he’s liked for a long time — and they decide to start dating, Naoya’s life is full of bliss. However, one day a beautiful young woman named Nagisa also confesses to Naoya. Naoya and Nagisa immediately get along, and he tells Nagisa that he already has a girlfriend. She vows to confess to him again someday, when he suddenly proposes that they instead go together to talk with Saki about him dating them both at the same time. Saki and Nagisa hit it off immediately, and while Saki is angry and reluctant at first about the idea, she eventually agrees.

Vivy -Fluorite Eyeʼs Song Announced

This week, WIT studio announced a new original anime titled Vivy -Fluorite Eyeʼs Song which is scheduled to release on April 2021. The news was revealed alongside its teaser PV (seen above).

Aquatope of White Sand Announced

The official Twitter account for anime studio PA Works announced a new original anime titled Aquatope of White Sand. The anime is scheduled to release sometime in July. The news was revealed alongside a new PV and key visual.

The anime is described as:

Kukuru works at the Gamagama Aquarium, where she sees “mysterious things,” while Fuuka is a former idol who has fled from Tokyo to Okinawa. The story will revolve around their encounter.
