Another week has past and a set of anime and manga news along with it, so I’ll be listing the best updates and announcements we received throughout last week.
My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes’ Mission New PV
The official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of My Hero Academia revealed a new promotional video for the third anime film in the My Hero Academia franchise, My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes’ Mission. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on August 6.
Tsuki To Laika To Nosferatu Key Visual and Premiere Date
Last week, the official website and Twitter account for the upcoming anime adaptation of Tsuki To Laika To Nosferatu (The Moon, Laika, and Nosferatu) revealed a new key visual and October premiere date.
BEASTARS Anime Gets New Sequel Arc
Last week, Studio Orange and Netflix announced that the TV anime adaptation of Paru Itagaki’s BEASTARS manga will receive a new sequel arc. A new website was also opened.
The BEASTARS manga Launched in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in September 2016. The manga ended in October 2020. Viz Media publishes the manga in English, and describes the story as:
At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, it’s personal relationships that maintain the fragile peace. Who among them is a Beastar—an academic and social role model destined to become a leader in a society naturally rife with mistrust?
Last night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student was killed and eaten. Among the members of the drama club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Legoshi, a large wolf. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly—or would he? And will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else?
My Stepmother’s Daughter Was My Ex-Girlfriend Anime Adaptation Announced
Kadokawa recently announced via ANN that Kyōsuke Kamishiro and Takayaki’s Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta (My Stepmother’s Daughter Was My Ex-Girlfriend) light novel series is receiving an anime adaptation. The anime’s format and premiere date is yet to be revealed.

Kyōkai Senki Premiere Date
Studio Sunrise Beyond and Bandai Spirits announced additional staff members and the October 4 premiere date for their upcoming project Kyōkai Senki (War Machines on the Borderline). An 11-minute preview of the first episode was also revealed on the Bandai Spirits YouTube channel.

The story is set in the year 2061, with Japan under a state of occupation by multiple states. The world, including Japan, has been consolidated under the rule of four trade blocs. The entire archipelago now the frontline of conflict. The Japanese people live under a state of constant occupation and oppression, with humanoid war machines called AMAIM patrolling its streets. A young introverted boy named Amō Shiiba (seen below) has a chance meeting with the autonomous AI Gai, and his acquisition of the AMAIM Kenbu begins a story that will see him attempting to take back Japan.
Megaton Musashi Gets New Visual & Premiere Date
The official website for the anime adaptation of Level 5’s Megaton Musashi (Megaton-kyū Musashi) media project via ANN announced that the anime will premiere on October 1. Level 5 announced the project in 2016, and was initially planned to start in summer 2017.
PuraOre! Pride of Orange Gets New PV
The official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of CAAnimation and DMM Games’ multimedia project PuraOre! Pride of Orange, revealed a new promotional video for the anime with an opening and ending theme song version. The anime is set to premiere in October.
Summer Time Rendering Premiere Date
The official website for The anime adaptation of Yasuki Tanaka’s Summer Time Rendering manga opened to announce the anime’s 2022 premiere date.
Shueisha describes the story as:
Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island. What mysteries await him on this secluded summer island?
Blade Runner: Black Lotus Gets New Trailer & Key Visual
During the Comic-Con@Home 2021 panel on Friday, Crunchyroll and Adult Swim revealed a new trailer and Key visual for their upcoming CG anime series Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Additionally, it was announced that award winning singer-songwriter Alessia Cara is contributing music to the series, including the original song “Feel You Now”.
New Dragon Ball Super Film Detailed
During its Special Dragon Ball panel at the San Diego Comic-Con virtual event, Toei announced that the second anime film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise will be titled Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Additionally, it was announced that new characters will appear in the film, and that there will be a virtual Dragon Ball Comic-Con booth at the franchise’s official website. The film is scheduled to premiere in 2022. A teaser trailer featuring Goku was also revealed. A new unnamed character and its character design was revealed as well as for several others like Piccolo, Pan and Krillin.
Original creator Akira Toriyama is in charge of the screenplay and character design. Toriyama commented on the movie saying:
An all new movie since “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is currently in the making!
Just like the previous movie, I’m heavily leading the story and dialogue production for another amazing film.
I really shouldn’t talk too much about the plot yet, but be prepared for some extreme and entertaining bouts, which may feature an unexpected character.
We’ll be charting through some unexplored territory in terms of the visual aesthetics to give the audience an amazing ride, so I hope everybody will look forward to the new movie!
Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity – Grand Temple of Time: Solomon Gets New PV
The official Fate/Grand Order anime website revealed a new promotional video for the upcoming Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity – Grand Temple of Time: Solomon (Fate/Grand Order -Kyūshoku Tokuiten Kani Jikan Shinden Solomon-) anime film. The film is set to premiere on Friday which is also the original game’s sixth anniversary.
Junji Ito’s Remina, Venus In The Blind Spot Manga Wins Eisner Awards
In the 2020 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, Junji Ito’s Remina manga won this year’s Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award. Ito also won the Best Writer/Artist award for his Remina and Venus In The Blind Spot manga.
