Yet another week is about to end and while we had a slow week of anime and manga news, we still saw a few notable announcements of which I’ll proceed to breaking down below.

Shirobako Remastered Anime Film

The Shirobako Anime film which premiered in Japan earlier this year on February 29, will reportedly (via ANN) be releasing once again in a remastered format on August 28. The new screenings will also feature two new videos with cast members from the anime.Gintama: The Final Anime Film

The official website via ANN for the upcoming Gintama anime film titled Gintama The Final revealed a new visual novel for the film earlier this week. Gintama The Final will premiere on January 8, 2021, in Japan and is to be “the finale, for real this time.”

Japan Sinks Film Compilation

Earlier this week, we also learnt via ANN that Masaaki Yuasa’s recent Netflix exclusive film Japan Sinks 2020 would be compiled onto a featured length film titled Japan Sinks 2020 Theatrical Edition will be released in Japan on November 13. A new visual for the film was also released alongside the announcement.

Masaaki Yuasa had this to say regarding the film:

“The soundtrack created in 5.1 channel during the dubbing of the first episode was so pleasant that I thought it was a waste if I didn’t watch it in a good environment. Once the series went live, there was a lot of criticism of the content and many viewers did not get where they wanted to be because the work betrays the audience at points. The hardships are not kind to the characters. Please watch in the theater

A synopsis for the upcoming anime via Crunchyroll can be seen below:

“Historically 72% of all the deaths in London are related to dragons, fantastical beings invisible to the majority of the people. While unknown to most, some people have been standing up to these dragons.

Only inhabitants of Reverse London who live in the hidden “reverse” side of London can see the dragons. Even then, only a selected few become qualified enough as witches or wizards to make direct contact with them.

The protagonists of the story are witch duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protection agents for Wing Bind (WB), an organization for dragon conservation and management. Their mission is to protect and manage the dragons within London on behalf of the people.”
