The team at Comcept, including Keiji Inafune, have announced at Anime Expo today that they are developing a new action RPG, RED ASH: The Indelible Legend. A KickStarter has begun.
Red Ash takes place in a world in which humanity is at the brink of extinction after the Robot World War. However, humans have been able to recreate a society in which the higher class have emerged once more, and cities and settlements are being built again. Their infrastructure, however, is being supported by the Delvers, people who hunt for Lost Technology in dangerous ruins and wastelands. As Beck alongside a character named Tyger, you have to infiltrate a mobile citadel called KalKanon, which is threatening to ruin the town. The Gecko Company has a plan of using a cannon called “The Peacemaker” to destroy the citadel before it arrives. However, as a part of the Bones Agency, Beck is tasked to stop the citadel before the Peacemaker destroys everything and grab the treasure inside. On the KickStarter, Comcept have also stated that they we also want to include “a myriad of elements to set this game apart from your typical RPG–specifically, bargaining between partners, interaction with NPCs, an almost mischievous sense of freedom, and dungeons built with elements of horror.”
Similar to Ni No Kuni, the game will take place in an “anime-inspired game world.” Like Level 5 and Studio Ghibli’s collabaration, the game will take the style of Studio 4C’s art. Studio 4C are developing an anime called Red Ash, which are based on the same property and characters, but set in parallel worlds. The KickStarter for the animated project is also running.
Red Ash is an action adventure RPG with third person shooting elements like Capcom’s Megaman Legends series. If you haven’t noticed as well, they are bringing character names from Mighty No.9, Beck and Call, to Red Ash, similar to how Megaman and Megaman Legends transferred the same names.
Some stretch goals they want to include are “making Tyger a playable character, special challenge dungeons, a village reconstruction system.”
If you want to support the KickStarter, here is the link. They are asking for $800,000 and they want to release the game on PC. No other platforms have been announced as of yet.
Comcept’s first crowdfunded game, Mighty No.9 is scheduled to release on September 15th for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Vita, Mac and Linux.
