During Apple’s October event, Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller revealed refreshes to the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display lineups.
On the 13-inch side, the Retina display MacBook Pro now weighs 3.46 pounds, from 3.57 pounds, and is now 0.71 inches thin, compared to the previous model’s 0.75 inch thinness. The refreshed laptop now features Intel’s Haswell processor, as well as Intel’s Iris integrated chip. It now has up to 9 hours of battery life, with full support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a Thunderbolt 2 port.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will now retail for $1,299, with the base configuration including a 2.4GHz Intel i5 pricessor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It goes on sale today.
Not to be outdone, the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display also saw an upgrade. It contains Intel’s quad-core Crystalwell processor, combined with Intel’s Iris Pro integrated graphic. Customers can opt for a GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of memory. It, too, includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Thunderbolt 2 support, and it will retail for $1,999.
The base configuration includes a 2.0GHz Intel i7 processor, with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. It also goes on sale today.
