The aqua blue 3DS is going the way of the dinosaur. Nintendo has announced on the Nintendo site that the aqua blue 3DS is “scheduled to end production shortly.” While no reason for the demise of one of two available launch colors was given, it has been speculated that the lack of popularity of the color may have something to do with it. Perhaps the recent launch of the cobalt blue impacted sales.
Also going the way of the aqua blue 3DS is Nintendo’s 3D television service “Itsu no Ma ni Terebi” which launched last summer in Japan. The service showed free two-minute 3D clips that were commercial free and exclusive to the 3DS.
The service is scheduled to end on June 20, however intermittent distribution will continue to 3DS owners.
