Archie Returns to Television

<p>Dated as it sounds&comma; the <em><strong>Archie<&sol;strong> <&sol;em>comics have never really gone away&period; In fact&comma; they&&num;8217&semi;ve only grown more popular and controversial with time&period; In the wake of comic book based TV series&comma; Fox is currently developing <em><strong>&&num;8216&semi;Riverdale&&num;8217&semi;<&sol;strong><&sol;em> based off the popular <em>Archie<&sol;em> comic series&period; The new series will be written by<strong> Greg Berlanti<&sol;strong> &lpar;<em>Arrow<&sol;em>&rpar; and <strong>Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa<&sol;strong> &lpar;chief creative officer of Archie Comics&rpar;&period; It will be a live-action drama set in the modern day town of Riverdale&period; Naturally&comma; the show will follow Archie&&num;8217&semi;s love triangle with Better and Veronica as well as including classic characters Jughead&comma; Reggie&comma; Kevin and Josie &lpar;and the Pussy Cats&rpar;&period; We may even see a cameo by Sabrina the Teenage Witch perhaps&quest; The show is being described as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;a bold&comma; subversive take on Archie&comma; Betty&comma; Veronica and their friends&comma; exploring the surreality of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade&period;&&num;8221&semi; I don&&num;8217&semi;t think it&&num;8217&semi;ll quite go into <em>Twin Peaks<&sol;em> territory&comma; but it&&num;8217&semi;ll certainly be something akin to <em>Beverly Hills 90210<&sol;em> or <em>Dawson&&num;8217&semi;s Creek<&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;deadline&period;com&sol;2014&sol;10&sol;archie-comics-series-riverdale-greg-berlanti-roberto-aguirre-sacasa-fox-858971&sol;">Deadline<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;
