Armello Will Receive a PS4 Physical Edition in Early 2018

One of the more interesting gaming experiences available on current-gen systems and PC is Armello, and next year it will be getting a physical release for PS4. Titled Armello: Special Edition, the game will be available in stores on March 18, 2018. The release will come with a physical copy of the soundtrack, and it has not been confirmed, but one would assume that most, if not all of the DLC will come on the disc with the game.

Armello came out in 2015 on PS4 and Steam, and made its way to Xbox One last year. The game has been called a “digital strategy board game” by its developers, but it has a a variety of different aspects that make up the core gameplay. The base of the game is that of a board game, with some dice rolling involved, but there is also a card aspect to it, as well as light RPG elements. There are lots of little things that culminate into a unique board game experience that most likely could only be done in the video game medium, outside of making a board game that is cluttered with cards, paper, dice, markers and more. The game also boasts a great visual style, with animated animals that live in a fantasy setting that feels like Animal Farm meets Game of Thrones.

Armello, Soedesco

It’s great that League of Geeks and Soedesco are working to release a physical copy of this unique game. When you play, the maps are procedurally generated and each game has varying quests, so each playthrough is typically different from the last. It’s a fantastic gaming experience, and hopefully the physical release helps to draw some new blood into Armello’s player base. Have you played Armello before? Is it something that you’ll likely pick up when it’s out? Let us know in the comments below.
