Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series is getting its own movie adaptation, which is scheduled to hit big screens in the US on Dec 21, 2016. Michael Fassbender (well known for playing Magneto in X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past) is set to star in the film which will be directed by Justin Kurzel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie was first announced back in 2012 by Ubisoft, who later went on to state that they’d fast track the film thanks to a deal they had inked with Fox and Regency. Michael Fassbender had already been selected to co-produce and feature in the film, with Ubisoft regarding him as their “first choice” for the movie’s lead role. A delay occurred however when in April 2014, it was announced the film would undergo a re-write with Bill Collage and Adam Cooper called in to handle doing so.
The movie will face stiff competition as a currently untitled Star Wars spinoff will hit cinemas the week before.
