Recently on Bagogames we have featured numerous news articles which have questioned exactly why companies seem to shun female talent in the video game industry. If it isn’t that women are not being paid the same as men it is that they are not being treated equally, unthinkable in our modern day society. However, it seems that Microsoft is one of the ‘good guys’ in this scenario as they have just appointed their first female chief financial officer position!
Amy Hood will become the companies next chief financial officer who will be replacing Peter Klien and is the first female CFO in the entire history of the company. She originally joined the company in 2002 and has gained experience through overseeing the execution of several of Microsoft’s acquisitions which include some companies you may have heard of such as Skype ($8.5 billion) and Yammer ($1.2 billion).
In a statement, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said:
“Amy brings the right talents and experiences to the role as we continue to strengthen our focus on devices and services. She has been an instrumental leader in the Microsoft Business Division (MBD), helping lead the transition to services with office 365 and delivering strong financial and operational management throughout her time on the business”.
