Batman won’t be sharing the spotlight with well-groomed steampunk knights or Geralt of Riveria after all.
Earlier this past summer, we reported to you that the Dark Knight’s final chapter in the Arkham series had leaked on the Microsoft store. As luck would have it, this was apparently only a placeholder or, in fact, an erroneous date. Regardless, Batman: Arkham Knight has been moved to this June 2nd, 2015.
Batman: Arkham Knight would have originally released October 14th, 2014, and then originally February 25th according to the afore mentioned Xbox date. Now it stands alone as the only known June release for 2015 well over a year after its E3 debut.
Warner Bros. has also announced two collector’s editions for the game. The Limited Edition comes with an art book, a steelbook case, a limited edition Arkham Knight comic, three New 52 character skins and a “Batman Memorial Statue.” What could that mean? Someone dies? This particular limited edition will sell for $99.99.
The Batmobile edition comes with everything above, except the Batman monument is replaced by a Triforce-created statue of Batman’s iconic ride. The statue is “fully transformable,” which we assume means it can take on the different modes as seen in the game and we won’t be getting Optimus Bat. This edition sells at $199.99 and is only available for consoles and not PC gamers.
Batman’s last chapter as told to us by Rocksteady Studios follows the turmoil caused by Batman: Arkham City following the defeat of The Dark Knight’s greatest enemy and the appearance of his dark mirror, the Arkham Knight. Gotham City erupts in chaos after Scarecrow, Two-Face, The Penguin, Harley Quinn, and other members of his worst Rogues Gallery fill the void and take over the city. Batman and his longtime ally, Barbara Gordon (a.k.a Oracle) remain behind as the city evacuates to face whoever lies behind the Arkham Knight’s mask.
Batman: Arkham Knight release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Will you be getting any fancy Bat swag this coming summer?
