It is a dark day indeed. After multiple developers and publishers have been very vocal in no longer supporting Nintendo’s floundering Wii U console, the gaming giant has had another blow to its software future. Batman: Arkham Origins has had all future DLC for the console pulled, forcing Nintendo to refund Season Pass holders.

Such news comes from an email sent out to a Season Pass holder, which in turn was posted by AllGamesBeta. The email read:

“Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.
We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you’ve been enjoying the content that has been delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U. As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.”

Shortly afterward, VG247 reached out to contact Warner Bros. to find out any details or confirmation on this subject. Sure enough, there was a response which confirmed the validity of the email. “Based on demand for DLC content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming all-new story campaign for Wii U.”

With yet another large game abandoning support for the Wii U, can Nintendo truly save the day? Can first party offerings alone draw enough people to the console or will it be forced to die in the cold? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
