As Marvel Studios refused to budge from placing Captain America 3, Warner Brothers is moving up their next big DC Comics film into the spring of 2016. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been moved from May 6, 2016 to March 25, 2016. This will place the crossover hero film out of the summer blockbuster competition allowing it to gain significant ground in a less competitive season for superhero films. Almost seems as if they’re taking a cue from Marvel Studios who released Captain America The Winter Soldier in April of 2014 and dominated the box office for a full month.
In the coming months, we are likely to see some more scheduling shifting as DC and Marvel compete for future release dates.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be the second DC Comics film directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavil in the role of Superman. Ben Affleck will be filling the role of a slightly older Batman. The film will also feature appearances by characters Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman and Cyborg.
