Battle Royale and Conquest are two of the newest additions to the modes available in MLB The Show 16 when it launches later this month. Sony’s popular baseball series is set to launch just as the pre-season comes to an end and a new MLB season starts. These new modes in Diamond Dynasty look to add even more to an already packed game.

For those that are unaware, Diamond Dynasty is basically Sony’s version of EA’s Ultimate Teams, which you can find in various EA Sports games. In Diamond Dynasty’s traditional mode, you create a team, open packs of virtual baseball cards and create your squad with which to take on other players in online matches.

This year they have added some new modes, the first of which, Battle Royale, is similar to Madden’s Draft Champions mode. In Battle Royale you go through a draft where you pick players you think will make the best team, and once done you start in a PVP double-elimination tournament. The first draft that you will do is free, but after that it costs stubs, which are the in-game currency in MLB The Show. There are many rewards from playing this mode, which range from more packs of cards to legendary players, which are only available in Battle Royale.

The second mode is pretty interesting, called Conquest, which seems to be influenced by classic board game Risk. In it you take on teams and their territories all across the US, trying to win games and win over fans, increasing your fan base and territory. The mode is mostly a single-player mode, and while you are playing, the AI controlling other teams will also be working to expand their fan bases as well. Conquest and Battle Royale will also be only 3 inning games, which should help to maximize the amount of games that players will be able to get in.

MLB The Show 16 launches on March 29th, 2016 on PS4 and PS3, with no plans for a PlayStation Vita release.
