Best ways to earn gil in FFXIV ARR

Final Fantasy is a series of RPG video games created by Square Soft (currently called Square Enix), and is one of the pioneers of the entire RPG genre and it is thanks to this saga that the JRPG achieved popularity in the West. The series great success and acceptance has allowed this saga to enjoy multiple iterations throughout the decade. But it is through Final Fantasy XIV that Square Enix has tried it’s hand for the second time in the MMORPG genre (Final Fantasy XI being their first attempt).

Final Fantasy XIV was released in 2010, but soon after it came out, it received negative reviews and a lot of push back from its players. After this Square Enix decided to revise the game and set out to fix the bugs and improve it. In 2013 Square Enix released a new version called Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (abbreviated as FFXIV ARR). And it worked, the new FFXIV ARR was received with mostly positive reviews, and has been followed up with three expansion packs (Heavensward in 2015, Stormblood in 2017, and Shadowbringers in 2019).

FFXIV ARR submerges us in a world called Eorzea where characters can adventure, join guilds, and explore a whole new world to overcome challenges, level up, and bask in a multiplayer based storyline.

But to become a hero among heroes in FFXIV ARR you need a lot of FFXIV Gil (the currency in the game), whether it’s to buy equipment, food, potions or other things needed to advance in the game. For that reason, we have come up with a handy guide, below are the best ways to earn Gil in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

1. Perform Crafting

Get a hang of crafting and earn mad money (I mean gil)…

Crafting is one of the best ways to make money in an MMORPG, just about every online multiplayer utilizes crafting in someway, and a lot of players have learned to use it to make items in abundance for selling. Only problem is crafting is time consuming, resource heavy, and it can cost a lot of money, especially in FFXIV ARR. Saying that, creating items is a task that can bring rewards for those who own Disciples of the Hand. The best bet for crafting in FFXIV ARR is to create is to mass produce low level and high quality items, as they are not very difficult to make, and they appeal to a large market of beginner players who are looking for a low price when first starting out.

2. Earn rewards through Quests (here)

Example of an Allagan piece in FFXIV ARR

Finishing quests is the main motivation of any adventurer in an MMORPG, it’s how you advance the story, level up, get cool new gear and items, and most importantly make mad bank. Most if not all of the missions in FFXIV ARR will reward you in Gil upon completion, they also give you the option to choose another item as a prize, among them are frequent Allagan pieces, which can in turn be exchanged for Gil.

3. Earn Gil with Challenge Log Rewards

This is the challenge log…as you can see large girl can be earned.

When a player reaches level 15 he/she will be allowed to enter the Challenge Log by performing the mission: Rising to the Challenge. The challenge log gives your character many small challenges, all of them reward varying amounts of Gil, and every week new challenges are added. The more your character advances in levels, the more he or she will be able to execute challenges with greater rewards, and by completing them, the more Gil you’ll be able to put in the bank.

4. Explore the dungeons

Exploring dungeons is one of the all time best ways to earn Gil in FFXIV ARR, besides being a great way to win a lot of unique rewards and items, dungeons are super entertaining and challenging, as you will encounter a slew of of monsters and puzzles along the way. So, it’s highly recommended to bring friends with you.

Many of the rewards you earn for exploring dungeons will be useful equipment, but you will also bank a decent amount of Gil (from killing baddies). Another great thing about dungeons is rare items, if you get any, you can use them to exchange, or build stuff worth a lot more money. Once your character reaches level 50, he or she will start receiving Allagan Tomestones in the dungeons, which can be exchanged for high level equipment, or used as a special currency.

Final Thoughts

These were just some of the ways we thought of to help you earn more money in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. With the methods mentioned above you should be well on your way to becoming a cash cow “hero of heroes” in the land of Eorzea. Bear in mind that crafting, doing challenges, or exploring dungeons are not easy, they are all time-consuming, and you will have to put in a lot work. But it’s worth it, isn’t it? Isn’t it?
