There has been a new announcement trailer heralding the arrival of the latest expansion for Blade & Soul – Silverfrost Mountains.
This new addition will unlock an entire new continent with a variety of new zones, quests, and new challenging endgame content. Silverfrost Mountains will also increase the character level cap to 50 and boost the Hongmoon level to 10.
Of course, the expansion will also continue the story of Blade & Soul and bring players closer to fulfilling their goal of revenge for their master and their school. Their journey will take them not only through the Silverfrost Mountains, but also through the Primeval Forests and the harsh, icy peaks of Shiverstone Range.
There’s also a new Capital City: Zaiwei. This city will serve as players’ new base of operations as the source of social encounters, crafting workshops, and quests.
Blade & Soul also has new large scale content in the form of Frostscale Basin and Beastbog. These are 24-member open world instances wherein hosts of monsters and bosses offer new challenges and rewards for players willing to battle it out. There’s also a new server which will have players coming together in order to defend the Grand Harvest Square from hordes of attackers.
In addition to this, there’s a new world PvP zone in the Soulstone Plains. Here players can choose to fight for either the Crimson Legion or Cerulean Order in order to defend mining operations from the opposing faction and earn valuable resources in the process.
Blade & Soul will also be introducing eight new dungeons with the new expansion. Five of these will be Expert dungeons, and three will be Heroic. Naturally while much more of a challenge, the Heroic dungeons will also provide greater rewards with new weapon and accessory upgrade progression paths, Soul Shields, or even cosmetic rewards.
The new Heroic dungeons are:
– Awakened Necropolis
In this dungeon a demon army has been sealed behind a city’s walls, and the demons have been trying to escape. Their forces are rallying to smash through the blockade, and it’s up to the players to help the Soul Wardens keep this evil contained.
Players will have to battle through the hordes of undead and demons that permeate the city in order to face down the Unholy Jiangshi Demon. Players will then face a new challenge as they will have to split up to defend Demonseal Cores, after which they will finally enter the Necropolis itself to face the Scorpion Queen.
– Lair of the Frozen Fang
In the Silverfrost Mountains there lives a tribe of monsters called the Jomu. The Jomu kidnap hapless humans in order to use them as slaves, or use them in blood sacrifices. These sacrifices are made in worship of the Tetralisk Queen, who they are hoping to empower so that they might escape their frozen captivity.
Players will fight a myriad of bosses in their attempt to thwart the Jomu, which will only be accomplished if players survive to fight and kill both the Bladescale Naga King and the Tetralisk Queen.
– The Avalanche Den
Here players must come together to stop the dangerous Angler Yeti from entrapping villagers and travelers with its illusions and tricks. Players will need to be wary not only of enemies, but also the terrain as the cavern fungus and even giant snowballs will greatly impede progress if you’re not careful.
The terrain can also be used in players’ favor, however, and is even necessary in order to bring one of the bosses down. The biggest challenge, of course, will be the Angler Yeti itself as it will employ freeze attacks in order to smash through its opponents.
Blade & Soul will also have a Silverfrost endgame upgrade track for current weapon and accessory upgrade paths. Players who have already upgraded their weapons with endgame materials will skip ahead, and players who have not yet begun processing at endgame will automatically jump to the new system.
Blade & Soul – Silverfrost Mountains will be launching this Wednesday, and full patch notes are expected to be forthcoming on the day of the launch.
