Blizzard wants World of Warcraft Legacy Servers for Vanilla WoW

<p>If you play <em>World of Warcraft<&sol;em>&comma; most likely you have heard all about Nostalrius and how it was the largest private server for the vanilla version of <em>WoW<&sol;em>&period; That was until Blizzard stepped in and shut it down in April&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>However&comma; all hope is not lost yet&period; The Nostalrius team has been in communication with Blizzard this whole time trying to work something out&period; This has led to many rumors of legacy servers actually being a thing for the game&period; This being a way for people to play the vanilla version of the game in a more legit way&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Recently&comma; the Nostalrius crew had a meeting with some of the most prominent names at Blizzard and shared <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;forum&period;nostalrius&period;org&sol;viewtopic&period;php&quest;f&equals;2&amp&semi;t&equals;44218">on their blog<&sol;a> how the meeting went&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It turns out that Blizzard does in fact want to run legacy servers&comma; and contrary to the rumors&comma; the source code for the classic <em>World of Warcraft<&sol;em> also hasn&&num;8217&semi;t been lost&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Now don&&num;8217&semi;t expect anything to happen right away&comma; it isn&&num;8217&semi;t as easy as you might think&period; They can&&num;8217&semi;t just flip a switch and have the legacy servers start up&period; They have to figure out the most reasonable way to make this happen&comma; not to mention technical issues&comma; such as having to rebuild game files&period; Just because there is still the original source code&comma; doesn&&num;8217&semi;t mean they have it ready to go&period; Blizzard also wants to make sure that when they do launch these servers they will be working properly for millions of <em>WoW<&sol;em> players&period; Alliance or Horde&comma; both factions will be able to once again experience the Death Knight class on the <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;deucesandthediamondclub&period;com&sol;product&sol;wow-wotlk-gold&sol;">fresh WOTLK Classic servers<&sol;a>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It will be a long time before we see these servers&comma; but <em>WoW<&sol;em> fans can be happy knowing that Blizzard has heard them and will work on giving their fans exactly what they want some time in the future&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;neoseeker&period;com&sol;news&sol;28120-nostalrius-blizzard-wants-legacy-world-of-warcraft-servers-source-code-to-vanilla-isnt-lost&sol;">NeoSeeker<&sol;a><&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
