Bloodborne has been officially announced during Sony’s E3 conference as a Playstation 4 exclusive title. From Software, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Dark Souls series, are teaming up with Sony’s own Japan Studio to bring Bloodborne to the next-gen audience and have brought in veteran game developer Hidetaka Miyazaki to direct game development. Miyazaki is most known for the Playstation 3 exclusive Demon Souls, the precursor Action RPG that paved the way for Dark Souls.
This quells rumors of a potential direct sequel to Demon Souls that were afoot from leaked screenshots and video of Project Beast a few months ago, though it is clear to see that influences are being taken from Miyazaki’s experience with the Souls franchise in making the new PS4 exclusive. The official announcement trailers details the denizens of Bloodborne – hordes of decaying undead creatures facing punishment at the hands of a shotgun-wielding character. The setting appears to be taking an even darker approach thematically then that of the Souls games, as described in the short blurb attached to the trailer from sony playstation’s youtube upload.
