Browser Version of PlayStation Store Coming to North America

You can already access Xbox Live and browse through their marketplace from the comfort of your computer, but the PlayStation Store has never had that same service until recently; and even then, it was only in Europe. Now, however, that same feature will be brought to North America, as revealed by Sony Network Entertainment COO Shawn Layden.

Layden, while talking to CNET at CES this year –mostly about Sony Music Unlimited– revealed that the PlayStation Store will soon be accessible to NA gamers via the web sometime this month. The new browser store will allow customers to buy a game from the browser and have it automatically download to their system.

Personally speaking, this is something I’ve always wanted to have. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like turning on your PS3 in order figure out which games are available. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve checked the PS Store on my PS3, only to realize that I’d have to wait for the store to update in an hour or so. A browser version of the store would seem to save a nice amount of time.

What do you think? Will you be using the new browser version of the PlayStation Store? Let us know in the comments below!
