A livestream happened today that unveiled many elements of the game and its presentation. Call of Duty: WWII will move between historical accuracy and fictional character moments to create a dark, reverent story. The team at Sledgehammer Games is aiming to create something more gritty, but still maintains the wide scope of the war. The story will focus on the 1st Infantry Division, with players primarily taking the perspective of a new recruit. Some of the cast was also introduced including Josh Duhamel, Jeffrey Pierce, and Jonathan Tucker, once again lending to the series’ cinematic approach to war.

Multiplayer details were also provided through the livestream. A constant use of the term ‘Boots-on-the-ground’ was used to describe both single player and multiplayer. A War mode was detailed that will have Allies versus Axis in order to capture specific points of interest. Divisions will allow players to enroll in the Division they would like for Multiplayer. More multiplayer content should be on the way at E3 2017. A private multiplayer beta will be happening later this year for those who pre-order the game, though no more details were provided.

Zombies fans can rejoice because a whole new original story about the Third Reich and zombies. It will be a co-op mode, so if you’re a fan of the previous Zombies modes, you’ll likely get a kick out of this.

That’s it for Call of Duty: WWII, so let us know in the comments below whether you’re excited about Sledgehammer Games’s attempt at a WWII title.
