Call of Duty: Ghosts is adding female soldiers to its armada in Multiplayer mode. Mark Rubin, an Infinity Ward exec. told Joystiq that the decision was made to “recognize” the franchises entire audience. Rubin said that engine limitations in the game made it more difficult to add female soldiers earlier but since they have recently re-wrote the way their character customization program’s (‘Create-a-Soldier’) memory is handled to make the possibility of adding female soldiers more solid.

Of course, a change like this would make some players think it was just a stunt to lure more people in but Rubin says otherwise.

“Honestly, adding female soldiers to character customization wasn’t about trying to lure more people into the game. It was actually just about acknowledging the people who already play our game”

Rubin also made sure to point out that it wasn’t the past generation but the game’s engine itself that was limited. The female soldiers arrive November 5.
