Captain America 3 Set Several Years After The Winter Soldier

As Marvel Studios finalizes their plans to debut Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man in 2015, plans are already in motion for Captain America 3 currently set for May 2016. The Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) stated in an interview with Yahoo Movies that the third Captain America film will take place “a couple years” after the events of The Winter Soldier. Naturally, Steve’s search for his brainwashed pal Bucky Barnes will play a key role as evident from the last film’s climax. In other words, the time lapse will appear to be the same rate as the release schedule.

Not much more has been revealed about the story or how it will tie into the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron as it is too early to tell. The Russo brothers will also be directing a few episodes of the Agents of SHIELD prequel series, Agent Carter, between now and Captain America 3. They may drop some hints about some more buried Hydra secrets and they may not.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will open on May 1, 2015 followed by Ant-Man on July 17, 2015 with the not-yet-titled Captain America 3 set for May 6, 2016.
