Update: Apparently Cole’s comeback may not be as guaranteed as we once though. Actor Lester Speight has since gone on Twitter to address the rumors, saying that he has not, in fact, been contacted officially by anyone regarding the game. No rumors indeed:

Original Story: The Gears of War are still churning at Microsoft, and we now know one team member is back for its next entry. A recent tweet from Gears’ own Augustus “Cole Train” Cole has us believing he may very well be reloading his lancer once again.

Cole actor Lester Speight has donned the role for all three Gears games in the original trilogy as well as its prequel, Judgment. In the tweet below, a fan asked Speight if he had received a call about the new Gears, to which he simply replied, “Yup!”

Developer Black Tusk Studios is working on a new Gears title following Microsoft’s purchase of the series’ rights from Epic Games, and studio manager Rod Fergusson recently teased the blurred out image you see below. Beyond that, whatever’s on the horizon for the Gears universe is unknown.

In the meantime, Gears creator, Cliff “Cliffy B” Blezinski has taken other roads in the industry since leaving Epic Games in 2012. Just earlier this week, he announced that his next project will be revealed in the coming days.
