It’s a good time to be a fan of Remedy’s new game Control. The game will receive the brand new AWE expansion as well as getting the release of Control Ultimate Edition on Steam. The game has previously been exclusive to Epic Game Store on PC, so it will probably come as a delight to hear Control is finally becoming available on Steam.
Control Ultimate Edition will include all expansions (including AWE) for $39.99 USD. Those who buy it on PS4 and Xbox One will also get a free upgraded version when transitioning to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Release dates for Control Ultimate Edition:
- Steam: August 27th
- Digital on Epic Game Store, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One: September 10th
- Physical edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One: End of 2020
- Digital on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X: End of 2020
- Physical edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X: Early 2021
Gameplay Reveal Coming Soon
You might also want to set aside August 13 if you are hyped about the upcoming expansion. Remedy, together with Sam Lake, will be showing off the first chunk of gameplay from AWE on Twitch at 9 AM PT. The stream will also explore Remedy’s unique approach to storytelling.
The expansion is heavily implied to be related to Alan Wake. It will take players into a new part of the Oldest House, the Investigations Sector. Here Jesse must confront the creature that lurks within this long-abandoned part of the Bureau.
A Memorable Game
Control has been well received so far, although being exclusive to Epic Game Store on PC has definitely held it back from a larger audience. It’s pretty nice to see it finally released on Steam. Those who are interested in checking out the game should add it to your wishlist already, and be notified when it releases on August 27.
