Time to thank the gaming gods, because XSEED Games has announced that Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be released for the PSP via PSN this Winter. Here is the tweet to prove it:

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows re-imagines some of the events from Corpse Party (it is based on one of the alternate endings) and explains more of the mythos of the series. Character backgrounds are explored more, events that happened off-screen in the first game are revealed, and secrets are revealed.

Book of Shadows takes a first-person point-and-click style, as opposed to the adventure style of the first game. Also, there will be a heavier emphasis on story, which I have no problem with. An interesting mechanic that is introduced in Book of Shadows is a sanity meter. Through out the chapter you are playing, you character will slowly lose their mind, and may start to hallucinate.

Accompanying this news is that next week Corpse Party will be on sale for $9.99. For anyone that has been holding out on playing the first game, now is your chance to get it. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

The series is Vita compatible, so there is no excuse not to pick these games up. Thank you XSEED Games, now I am going to be doubly terrified of schools.
