For those who don’t know Crazy Taxi is the craziest taxi game ever with a strong cult following, mainly consisting of the alumni Dreamcast owners. It was the console’s second biggest selling game and saw crossovers to the PS2, Gamecube and later PSN and Live Arcade. Crazy Taxi was such a good game it’s always on our minds whether another sequel will be released. Well fortunately Kenji Kanno, the game’s creator is on the same wavelength as us.

Speaking to IGN, Kenji Kanno expressed his desire for a news series of Crazy Taxi games grace the PS4 and Xbox ONE but that it would take an ‘evolution’ of the game for that to happen. Kanno’s thoughts might have something to do with the fact that ever since the game’s release on Dreamcast, which received an average 90% on GameRankings it’s average score has increasingly dipped with every crossover.

In the interview with IGN he stresses two main changes to the game. He mentions the addition of a multiplayer section to the game. Kanno himself doesn’t know how the multiplayer would play out in the game but considering his thoughtfulness on the project it would be more than a simple PvP. Let your evil minds speculate on this. The other point he makes is how he wants Crazy Taxi to have a ‘time changing’ feel to it but more than a day/night cycle. Kenji gets very mystical here but the point he is trying to make is changing the overall atmosphere of the game. Rather it being a basic arcade, race against time game, there will be more depth into it. Possibly aiming at more of a storyline as he says ‘I really want how you play the game to transition as time does.’

This sadly is all that is being said on a future release so we’ll just have to settle for Crazy Taxi: City Rush for iOS and Android devices…I know right.
