The Assassin Order will be making its leaps of faith across two generations for the “foreseeable future” according to the latest statements made by parent studio Ubisoft.

In a conference call earlier this week, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the company’s best selling series will continue its support for Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 players with new entries well after 2014. The news falls in line with the studio’s reveal of its latest cross-generation title of Far Cry 4, set for the Playstation 4, X-Box One, PC, X-Box 360, and PS3.

This announcement further follows the reveal of its upcoming Assassin’s Creed title of Assassin’s Creed: Unity last month. The game is advertised as being exclusive for PC, X-Box One, and Playstation 4 with no last-gen systems of mention and an attached release window for this later this year. The title is further being worked on by a total of ten development teams across the globe, from the studio’s main division in Montreal, Canada to branches in Toronto, Kiev, Singapore, and Bucharest, the last of which is most notably hard at work on Ubisoft’s port of Watch Dogs to the Wii U set to release this fall.

If true, then word of last-gen exclusive Assassin’s Creed games could possibly point toward long-rumored plans for a last-gen Assassin’s Creed game later this year allegedly codenamed “Assassin’s Creed: Comet.” The title is purported to be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 systems alongside Unity for a 2014 release. Comet is said to star Shay, a Templar, in 1758. According to rumor, it will be a direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and including cameos from characters Haytham Kenway and Adewalé.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise, having sold over 73 million to date worldwide, follows the history-spanning struggle between the secret societies of the Assassin and Templar Orders across centuries within a collection of open-worlds featuring combining a variety of stealth, action, and exploration.
