Since the run and gun indie title Cuphead by StudioMDHR which released last year it has sold over 2 million copies. And it received positive ratings usually 8 or higher from most outlets. And the game also received numerous awards. This was fantastic because the indie game development studio started with two brothers, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer. And one of them even remortgaged his home to finance the game.
About The Game
The game takes place in the creative environment of Inkwell Isles, which was inspired by 1930’s cartoons. Players take on the roles of Cuphead and Mugman and face a difficult series of bosses to collect debts for the devil after having lost a game of craps even after Elder Kettle warned them not to. Sadly Cuphead rolled snake eyes. After collecting all of the souls, players are given the option of continuing to work for the devil or battling the devil himself.
The Story Does Not Stop There
Since the game’s release, the brothers and the rest of their team have remained busy. Even after creating over 150 characters before deciding on their main characters they still developed more. All of them are hand drawn then colored in photoshop. StudioMDHR announced DLC for the game called “The Delicious Last Course”. The DLC takes to a new isle and has new weapons that players will use to fight new enemies. But the biggest news is that it comes with a new playable character Ms. Chalice. The DLC will release next year.
