When it comes to DLC, The Witcher 3 is held in pretty high regard. Mostly because its two DLC expansions “Heart Of Stone” and “Blood & Wine” gave players a substantial amount of additional content. And they were followed by 16 bits of free DLC. These added all kinds of stuff like new quests and equipment, as well as additional outfits.
That’s quite a generous offer to players, given the amount of free DLC adds up to a lot in addition to the paid DLC expansions. Having free DLC released every week for two months is quite the rarity in the industry. And according to an investor Q&A, which VGC has translated from Polish, Cyberpunk 2077 will offer a similar caliber of DLC.
No Less DLC Than The Witcher 3
CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński is quoted saying the game will have no less DLC as The Witcher 3. Which is quite promising given the company has already promised a fairly lengthy campaign for the game.
According to CD Projekt Red the game is still going to be released on time. And if there is this amount of DLC planned for the game, then this might be one of the biggest RPG’s in existence, especially in the cyberpunk genre.
The game seems like a good fit for DLC, given its expansive world. A lot of new factions, outfits, missions and so forth could easily be added with DLC. We could even possibly see entirely new cities to explore in addition to Night City.
The only thing to be a little uncertain about is multiplayer. Given the game is not shipping with multiplayer, it’s uncertain how much of the DLC will be for the multiplayer part of the game.
We’ve already seen that CD Projekt Red are revealing the game’s factions in a series of tweets. So with gangs like The Mox, we could perhaps see DLC that expands upon their role in the world.
The game is slated for release on September 17th, and nothing indicates the game will miss its release date. So this seems like one massive cyberpunk experience worth waiting for.
