Daedalic Entertainment, developer of point-and-click adventure Deponia and German distributor of Torchlight II, has announced its upcoming turn-based RPG Blackguards.

Daedalic has stated in a press release that the story of Blackguards will be “significantly darker” than the stories found in its other games, with the player taking control of a convicted murderer who is accompanied by “more or less loyal companions” such as a drug-addicted half-elf and a lecherous wizard.

Daedalic claims that the game will focus on strong storytelling but will also feature “lots of lethal creatures and other enemies waiting to be taken care of on more than 170 unique battlemaps”, and will deliver “more than 40 hours of adventure”.

Blackguards is scheduled for release in “Q3 2013”, although no specific platforms have yet been announced.
