<p>A teaser trailer was shown at last night&&num;8217&semi;s 2012 Video Game Awards announcing a sequel to From Software&&num;8217&semi;s highly successful and critically acclaimed dark-fantasy action-RPG <em>Dark Souls<&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Although the CG trailer showed no gameplay&comma; it did contain elements which will be familiar to fans of <em>Dark Souls<&sol;em> or its predecessor <em>Demon&&num;8217&semi;s Souls<&sol;em>&colon; a lone knight seemingly on a quest&comma; dark and desolate environments&comma; and deadly enemies&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a rather surprising move&comma; it has also been announced that the sequel will not be helmed by Hidetaka Miyazaki&comma; who directed both <em>Demon&&num;8217&semi;s Souls<&sol;em> and <em>Dark Souls<&sol;em>&period; Instead&comma; <em>Dark Souls 2<&sol;em> will be co-helmed by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura&comma; although Miyazaki will be present in a supervisory role&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a press release issued after the announcement&comma; Shibuya states&comma; &&num;8220&semi;The entire development team is striving to make <em>Dark Souls II<&sol;em> an experience that is fresh while not forsaking its roots in presenting players with challenging gameplay&period; Our goal is to surprise and delight our fans with new experiences and plot twists while enticing new players to join our dark journey&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em>Dark Souls 2<&sol;em> is in development for PS3&comma; Xbox 360 and PC&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&lbrack;Via&colon; <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;computerandvideogames&period;com&sol;382705&sol;vga-2012-dark-souls-2-revealed-with-trailer&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">CVG<&sol;a>&rsqb;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
