darkForge Studios is a studio that is not short on talent. Made up of industry vets from studios such as Red 5, Microsoft and Sony, they have been working on Nekro for at least the last three years. To date, they have had a successful run on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight. Their Kickstarter campaign ended close to two years ago and now the fruits of their labor are slowly being realized. Nekro is going into Beta next month and before they let their backers get their hands on the game some people in the press are now getting a chance to play Nekro for the first time.
While creating Nekro, darkForge has drawn inspiration from PC games that have come before them such as Myth: The Fallen Lords, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Dungeon Keeper and more. While having it’s roots rich in PC history, darkForge is making a conscious effort to still include that “new school flare and attitude”. Judging by the screenshots below and the five levels we were able to play, the characters in the game certainly do have an over the top character design which could be compared to games like League of Legends.
