Dead Island 2 Is Back With A New Developer

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 has had quite the development ride with the early disbanding of Yager on the 15th of July, 2015, who no longer work on the project. Sumo Digital, a private development studio, has stepped in to take over development for the game. These guys have worked on games such as LittleBigPlanet 3, Forza Horizon 2, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed so they know their way around game development.

Sumo Digital also confirmed the news via Facebook.

The official Dead Island Twitter page also confirmed the news.

Koch Media CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz had the following to say over on MCVUK,

Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent, vision that was aligned with our own. It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them. We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I’d like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them.

“It’s an honour to be charged with the evolution of such an important franchise in Deep Silver’s catalogue,” said Sumo COO Paul Porter. “We’re looking forward to exceeding fan expectation with an ambitious design that we’re confident will take bone-crunching, visceral, zombie action to a whole new level.” – Koch Media CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz

Does this mean we will be seeing a completely different Dead Island 2? How will this title be different from the others after something similar has been released like Dying Light? Let us know what you think in the comments bellow.
