In a recent hands-on play session with Dead Space 3, Eurogamer staff noticed something very interesting pop up when you don’t have enough resources to create a better weapon. What did this message contain? The mention of “downloadable content” through stating: “Cannot craft. Additional resources required”.

According to Yara Khoury, the associate producer of Dead Space 3, “You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the market place”.

Yara Khoury continued later in the interview that “a lot of weapon parts that are only available to buy later in the game. Unless you’re playing through it again”, meaning gamers simply won’t be able to purchase and/or create the best weapons from the get-go at the start of the game.

What do you make of Dead Space 3’s Micro-Transaction plan? Do you agree that such a system should be implemented in a retail game? Let us know in the comments below!
